Isn’t it Espresso? With an ‘s’? Or am I missing something? Also, awesome!
probably came from “café express”
Expresso is right
Nespresso is Clooney
It’s “espresso”. I’m Italian
Espresso in Italian, Expresso in French, Expresso in Portuguese
You are correct. It is ESPRESSO!!! It is NOT expresso there is NO “x”
the x comes later in the afternoon…
en france, its expresso. everywhere.
expresso!
‘gnurant
In french we say expresso…
In french we say expresso…
It’s espresso in the states, but expresso pretty much everywhere in Europe
Correct. Espresso is the correct usage. American’s use the term ‘Expresso’ more often. And seeing how the author of this project is supposed to be French, I’m pretty sure they would’ve have typed “Espresso”.. which makes you wonder if this truly was by a french person.
Nonono, in french it’s expresso
and espresso happens to be Italian, other than that – pretty cool
Yes, yes it is with just an “s”.
Yes, you’re missing something. It’s in French.
+1
dipshit, just because it’s french doesn’t mean “exspresso” is right. In french it’s still “espresso”
Hélas, a lot of french are used to say “expresso” but even in french the right word is “espresso”. But as I’m french, a working into coffee business i can tell that we say “un petit café”, “un kawa”, “un petit noir” much more often…
in France, they actually do say “expresso.” In Italy they do say “espresso.”
But it is awesome, you’re right about that.
Both are correct in a certain way, espresso is of course the original name (which is not french but italian btw…) but expresso is used pretty often in Paris, since it’s derivated from café express mixed with the name espresso… it was pretty funny to solve your nonsense mistery :p hope it can be useful for somebody someday!
Frosty snoot
uhh actually Simone, it is also known as “expresso” in France. and no one said it was spelled “exspresso,” so I don’t know where you got that one….
Actually, it is espresso…I live in France.

hmmm i didn’t really get the pigeon/rat one. anyone who’s been to ny knows its brimming with pigeons. likewise anyone who’s been to paris has seen a ton of rats.
France, what else
?
Yes, it is espresso, comes from the italian. The x is an anglicism american, or should I say american anglicism?
No, x is also used in portuguese
Sorry to tell you this but king kong was based in NY but the build that he climbed is really Providence RI. Just an FYI
I think these are great! I don’t really get snooty from these, I think they are just comparisons. They can only be perceived as snooty if you are embarrassed by the differences.
brilliant! Lived in both cities now – totally true
eXpresso! HA! What an ultimate fail.
Wow, there are a lot of pseudo intellectuals (trolls) getting off on being able to spell espresso. With their love of correction, I bet they get invited to a lot of parties. By the way, that’s sarcasm. S-a-r-c-a-s-m.
haha
You’re trying to correct the attitude of correcting! That doesn’t make your life very interesting either…
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expresso
This pretty much ends the discussion
Yeah, meanwhile, if you search for “espresso”: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Espresso
I’m amused how all the comments are about whether the artist spelled “expresso” wrong or right and no one appreciates the entirety of this person’s work.
The cleverness and thought put into each comparison is really great and they are all very cute. Keep making more or make more comparisons between other places! : )
+1!
i really enjoyed the comparison of the roland garros and the us open!
i love the comparisons, very cute. but one thing did bother me… “tip: just double the tax.”
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!? sorry, but that is NOT how you tip your server properly. basic service starts at 15% of your bill, great service is 20%, & more if your server was particularly entertaining, or went out of their way to do something for you, etc. personally, i generally leave $1 for every $5 that i spend.
foreigners need to research how americans tip before they come to visit our country, just as us americans study their language & customs before traveling to a foreign country… just saying.
15 -20 % ?? Tell me, in the USA how much does à beer cost in an average bar? And a meal in a average restaurant ?
Basic starts at 10%, actually. Nice try.
no, basic is 15%
In NY tax is 8+% so doubling that is at least 16%. Math isn’t my strong suit but that’s a good start. And most people in NY do that and then often throw an extra few bucks down if service was really good. You need to relax a little kiddo
As someone who works in the service industry in NY 10% is insulting, I always tip 20% unless the service was subpar and most people do the same
Expresso, espresso, toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe…The posters are brilliant!
NY also has pigeons, and Paris also has rats. Interesting to associate them in reverse.
Expresso, Espresso, I prefer Vodka
Or Espresso-flavored Vodka
yea you missed the part about how much french people suck
how about vate faire encule america. go get better grades america and then come back…
I think all these illustrations are wonderful. I also think you are all jack A**’s for arguing about the EX or ES. Mocha please! Merci!
Took the words right out of my mouth.
It’s spelled xprezohe! @#$&*+#@!
Who gives a damn whether it’s spelled with a “x” or an “s”?! How friggin’ snooty can you be!
Ask Jim…
je suis Francaise ….amoureuse d’un americain….autant dire que cela me parle particulierement…..;-)
okay…
